Motivation And Maslow s Theory - 1324 Words

In order to understand a person motivation you have to understand individuals basic needs and whether are not they are being met. A good manager has to know how those need interact with a person’s motivation and Maslow Theory is the good example. Maslow’s theory is that needs are arranged in a hierarchy, the lowest level needs physiological needs to the highest levels or self-actualization needs (Ivancevich et al., 2011). Physiological is the lowest level and it is the need for food and shelter (Ivancevich et al., 2011). The next level in Maslow’s theory is safety. This is when a person feels they are free from threating events or from their surroundings (Ivancevich et al., 2011). They did not seem to enjoy the actual work or feel that it was important t o be productive while they were at work. The Associates were not striving to have an outstanding reputation or looking to receive a promotion for a job well done. No one I spoke to said anything about going to school to further their education or improve their life’s. Most just felt like the store was a place to work and get a paycheck from what I overheard and observed. Motivation â€Å"For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power love and self-discipline† (Timothy 1:7). God has provided us all with hearts and souls and self-discipline so that we can not only help ourselves but also help others in need. When reaching to obtain our goals or trying to accomplish a task we should remember that the Lord blessed us with self-discipline and love. Because of the Lords gifts, we are able to not only be motivated but to also accomplish a task whether it is for the rewards we will receive or the enjoyment of helping others. Motivation is what drives people to strive to accomplish their goals or participate in activities. As christens, we should always be motivated to help other when we can.
